Protein Interaction Network of E. coli

Cellular functions are determined by interactions among proteins in the cells. Recognition of these interactions forms an important step in understanding biology at the systems level. Several efforts have been put in to understand the biology of Escherichia coli. EcoCyc stores important information available in literature about this bacterium. High throughput experiments have also been done using TAP-tagged bait method and His-tagged bait method, followed by mass spectrometery to identify genome wide protein-protein interactions. We have aimed to predict all the functional linkages in E. coli using a support vector machine trained on high quality low throughput data stored in EcoCyc. We have used genome context methods as data features for training SVM. Details of our methodology and its analysis can be read here.
